AIN’T NOTHIN’ GONNA BREAK THE STRIDE OF AUTUMN SCHEER

That’s because the insulator/general labourer with Impact Drywall not only takes immense satisfaction in her work, she takes immense satisfaction in proving other people wrong. In fact, the lyrics to Matthew Wilder’s hit ‘Break My Stride’ could be the soundtrack to Scheer’s life.

“Nothing beats the feeling of completing a job, and I get a lot of compliments about me being a woman in the trades,” she says. “I got into this line of work because it’s challenging, and I’m a hands-on type of person. The job is also laid-back and goal-oriented. Sometimes I pretend like it’s just my daily workout, so I push myself to higher limits, my fullest potential.”

Scheer says one of her greatest accomplishments to date with Impact Drywall was when she and just one other colleague insulated two 60-unit apartment buildings when nobody believed they could.

Believing in yourself is the first step to being successful in the construction industry, says Scheer.

"Believing in yourself is the first step to being successful in the construction industry"

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step and keep moving,” she says. Scheer likes to remind herself and others that “Construction is very hard work, but you are capable!”

Being able to listen to music on the job is a huge perk for Scheer, who enjoys hiking, working out, climbing mountains and cleaning in her spare time.

It is obvious Scheer works hard and plays hard. Impact Drywall is lucky to have this dedicated, enthusiastic employee!
